1. General Information

What’s drivexone?

drivexone is an intelligent solution that includes a plug-and-play device with a SIM card and a GPS receiver. drivexone connects to the on-board computer of your car and sends important information over the air to an app on your smartphone or tablet. With drivexone you can track your journeys and analyze your driving statistics as well as locate your vehicle and monitor the condition of your vehicle.

What do I get when I order drivexone?

You will receive your drivexone device by post – usually a few days after placing your order on the Vodafone xone eShop. Note: The packing material used bears the “Amazon” lettering (Amazon is the logistics partner of xone). The package contains the drivexone device and the associated Quick Reference Guide. You can download the corresponding drivexone app for your smartphone from Google Play or the Apple App Store (the app is free).

Will my drivexone device work anywhere?

By using a SIM card can transmit drivexone data over the mobile network. drivexone works anywhere with wireless and GPS signal reception. If you are traveling in an area with no cellular connection, drivexone can save your ride data for about 4 hours. In areas with poor GPS reception, the position indicated on the map may be inaccurate. Currently drivexone only works in the following European countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Norway, Netherlands, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. If you are traveling in a country where drivexone does not work, the service is stopped. The unit is reactivated as soon as you are in a country where drivexone connectivity is operational.

2. Compatibility

Is drivexone compatible with my vehicle?

drivexone is compatible with most vehicles manufactured after 2001. Please inform yourself in your vehicle owner’s manual or contact your vehicle manufacturer on the position of the OBD interface for the installation of drivexone. Some drivexone functions are only available with selected vehicles.

Can I use it with my bike or scooter drivexone?

No, the drivexone device can only be connected to a car.

Does the drivexone app work on my iPhone? On my Android phone?

Yes, the drivexone app is compatible with both iPhone (iOS) and Android smartphones.

Does the drivexone app work on tablets?

The iPhone app (iOS) works in compatibility mode on iPads.
The Android app currently works only on smartphones.

3. Multiple cars, multiple drivers

Can I manage multiple cars within the same app?

Yes, you can create multiple car profiles with a single drivexone account.

Install a drivexone device in each of your cars and you’ll be able to manage all your cars within the same app. All your cars’ location will be displayed on a single map. You’ll be able to see more information about each car by selecting it in your list of cars.

Please note that you can manage a maximum of 4 cars with one drivexone account.

Can multiple users share one (or several) cars?

Yes, you can share your drivexone device(s) with other users. Please follow these steps:

1. In your drivexone app, select the car you want to share in the ‘Car profiles’ menu. Go to ‘Add a new driver’ and enter the email address of the person you want to share your device with. Please note: if you’re inviting someone who already has a drivexone account, make sure you provide the email address that this individual uses as xone username.

2. If the guest user already uses drivexone with another device:

a. He will receive an invitation directly in his drivexone app

3. If the guest user already has a xone user account but doesn’t use drivexone yet:

a. Your guest user will receive an email with an invitation code

b. The guest user then needs to download the drivexone app on the Apple App Store or Google Play

c. After launching the app, the guest user needs to select ‘Accept invitation to share” then “I have registered”.

d. The guest logs in the app with his xone username and password and the invitation code.

4. If the guest user does not have a xone user account:

a. Your guest user will receive an email with an invitation code

b. The guest user then needs to download the drivexone app on the Apple App Store or Google Play

c. After launching the app, the guest user needs to select ‘Accept invitation to share.”

d. The user then needs to select “Register”, to register an account on the xone website.

e. The guest logs in the app with his xone username and password and the invitation code.
You can share your drivexone device with 5 guest users.

In the case that multiple drivers share a car with drivexone, how does drivexone allocate a trip to the correct driver?

Trip information is only associated to a car profile, not to a specific driver.

4. Cost

Is there a minimum time period for my drivexone contract? Are there any penalties?

You can decide to terminate the service at any time and without penalty.
Please note that you will not be able to access any information on the app from the moment you cancel the account.

Is the mobile data used by my drivexone device included in the service?

Yes, any mobile data used by your drivexone device is included in the service.
However, please note that the drivexone app running on your smartphone will consume data from your smartphone data plan; normal data charges as per your smartphone data plan will apply.

Will I incur roaming charges when I’m abroad?

No, there are no extra charges when you use your drivexone device outside your country (drivexone will work when you drive in these European countries)
However, normal data charges as per your smartphone data plan will apply for accessing the drivexone app on your mobile device.

5. Activation

I ordered drivexone online, I have received my device by post, what do I do now?

Just follow the steps below and you’ll be up and running in no time:

1. Download the drivexone app from Google Play or the Apple App Store

2. Launch the drivexone app and login with your Vodafone xone username and password (that’s the username and password you created when you ordered your device on the Vodafone xone eShop).

3. After you login, the app will guide you through a few setup steps. You will need to enter your drivexone device serial number (or scan the barcode on your device).

4. After you’ve installed the drivexone device into your car, the device will go through a self-calibration phase during your first trip (it takes about 10 minutes). Once this is completed, you should be able to see information coming from your car in your drivexone app.

I bought my drivexone device in a retail store, what do I do now?

Follow the steps below:

1. First, you must create a Vodafone xone user account and add a monthly subscription to your device. Go to www.xone.vodafone.com/eshop, add a drivexone subscription to your basket and complete all the steps through to check out.

2. Download the drivexone app from Google Play or the Apple App Store

3. Launch the drivexone app and login with your Vodafone xone username and password (that’s the username and password you created in step 1.).

4. After you login, the app will guide you through a few setup steps. You will need to enter your drivexone device serial number (or scan the barcode on your device).

5. After you’ve installed the drivexone device into your car, the device will go through a self-calibration phase during your first trip (it takes about 10 minutes). Once this is completed, you should be able to see information coming from your car in your drivexone app.

6. Privacy

Who will have access to the data of my car?

Only you can see the details of your car. The drivexone device sends the information over a secure path (EU standards compliant) to your smartphone app. Please check the terms of use and privacy policy for more details.

7. Health and Safety

What is the radio wave exposure risk associated with the drivexone device?

The drivexone device is a radio wave transmitter and receiver and is designed not to exceed the limit based on international radio wave emission exposure guidelines developed by ICNIRP (International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection). The drivexone device has been tested and found to be in compliance.

Is the drivexone device in compliance with CE certification?

The drivexone device is approved to be used in the member states of the EU. It is in compliance (CE 1909) with the essential requirements and other relevant provisions of the Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directive 1999/5/EC (R&TTE Directive).

Is it normal for the device to become warm during use?

It is normal for your drivexone device to become warm during operation. However, if your drivexone device produces high amounts of heat, smoke, swelling or deformation, or other abnormalities, you should carefully unplug the device immediately and contact us

9. Miscellaneous

Is data sent in real time from my drivexone device to my smartphone app?

Finding your car location is performed in near real-time.

Information such as trips and statistic is pushed by the device only on a periodic basis to ensure privacy and lower power consumption.

Can I use the same drivexone device on different cars?

If you want to use your drivexone device on a different car, that’s fine as long as you continue to use it in a compatible car. Your trips and statistics will be grouped in a single history. Keep in mind that each time you plug in the device into a car, it will go through a self-calibration phase during your first trip (for about 10 minutes).

How do I turn on my drivexone device?

Simply plug the device into your car’s On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) port and drivexone will power on automatically. The smartphone app will notify you when the device is plugged in or unplugged.

What is the power consumption of the drivexone device?

drivexone has very low power consumption (between 13mA and 70mA).
If a car battery is old or unhealthy, leaving the drivexone device plugged in could cause a battery to be drained if the car is not used for a long periods of time.

Can I unplug my drivexone device after installing it?

Yes, you can unplug the device at any time. Historic information in your app will remain accessible.

Can I turn off my drivexone device?

No, the drivexone device is always on once it is plugged into the car. However, to reduce power consumption the device goes into a standby mode when it is not active

Can I use Bluetooth or WiFi to connect my app to the drivexone device?

No, drivexone uses only the mobile network to push information to the app.
